At 12:23 p.m., a Suzuki SUV with one occupant collided with an Infiniti SUV containing five occupants while traveling eastbound on Route 24, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.

The Infiniti overturned and the 18-year-old Whippany resident, identified by her school soccer team as Molly Mack, was ejected from the vehicle, leaving her with serious injuries.

Both drivers and three other occupants sustained minor injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Mack is the captain of the Whippany Park Wildcats girl's soccer club. In a post on Facebook, the team's booster club said she exemplifies what it means to be a Wildcat.

"Molly is not only one the best players in the state for soccer, but also one of the kindest," the booster club said. "Mack's smile is larger than life. She is the heart and soul of the WP girls soccer team."

The booster club said Mack is a great teammate both on and off the field.

"Molly is more than just an athlete, she is a wonderful and kind person," the booster club wrote.  We ask that everyone keep Molly, her mom, dad, brothers, the WP girls soccer team, and her friends in your thoughts as we wish her a speedy and full recovery."
